Salisbury Steak Meatballs Recipe

These Salisbury steak meatballs are a delightful twist on the classic dish. Tender beef meatballs smothered in a rich and savory gravy, they’re perfect for a comforting meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

For the meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and lightly browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the gravy. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  6. Sprinkle the flour over the melted butter and whisk until it forms a smooth paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Gradually pour in the beef broth, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  8. Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Allow the gravy to simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.
  10. Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the skillet with the gravy. Gently toss to coat the meatballs in the gravy.
  11. Serve the Salisbury steak meatballs hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired. They’re delicious over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Enjoy!
