Ingredients
- 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak or flank steak
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
- Add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface with one corner pointing towards you (diamond shape).
- Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the steak and vegetable mixture in the center of the wrapper.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the filling.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly. Use a little water to seal the edges.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Egg Rolls:
- In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally.
- Remove the egg rolls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Allow the egg rolls to cool slightly before serving.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce (cheese sauce, ketchup, or spicy mayo).
Enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls!
