PEACH COBBLER RECIPE

This cobbler is a delightful way to enjoy the taste of summer peaches. With a simple topping and juicy fruit filling, it’s easy to make and perfect for a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • For the Filling:
    • 6-8 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • For the Cobbler Topping:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup milk (or buttermilk)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon (if using). Toss to coat the peaches evenly.
  3. Make the Cobbler Topping: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the sugar until just combined.
  4. Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish. Evenly crumble the cobbler topping over the peaches.
  5. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a scoop of your favorite

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use brown sugar in place of some of the granulated sugar in the topping.
  • If your peaches are very juicy, you may want to add an additional tablespoon of cornstarch to the filling.
  • Don’t have buttermilk? Make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1/4 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
