Old-Fashioned Pancakes RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil, for greasing the griddle

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the well in the dry ingredients.
  5. Gently whisk the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, a few lumps are okay.
  6. Heat a lightly greased griddle or pan over medium-high heat.
  7. Pour or scoop about ¼ cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake.
  8. Cook the pancakes for 2-3 minutes per side, or until bubbles form on the surface and the edges begin to dry.
  9. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. 1 Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, such as butter, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
