A savory delight, Mutton Dabba is a traditional dish that tantalizes the taste buds with its rich flavors and succulent meat. This recipe promises a culinary journey through the aromatic spices and tender meat that make it a favorite among meat lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a deep-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cook for a minute until fragrant.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and oil starts to separate.
- Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook the spices for a couple of minutes.
- Add mutton pieces to the masala mixture and coat them evenly with the spices.
- Pour in 1 cup of water and pressure cook for about 5-6 whistles until the mutton is tender and cooked through. If using a regular pot, cover and cook until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally and adding more water if needed.
- Once the pressure releases naturally, open the cooker and check the consistency of the gravy. If it’s too thin, simmer for a few more minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- Sprinkle garam masala powder and give it a final stir.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or chapatis.
Enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth goodness of Mutton Dabba, a dish that promises to elevate your dining experience with its exquisite flavors!
