Ingredients

  • 2 cups Mountain Dew soda
  • 1 packet (2 tablespoons) powdered fruit pectin
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Sterilize your jelly jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. Remove and let them air dry.
  2. In a large saucepan, pour the Mountain Dew soda and sprinkle the powdered fruit pectin over the surface. Stir to combine.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Once boiling, add the granulated sugar all at once, stirring continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. Allow the mixture to return to a rolling boil, then continue boiling for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and skim off any foam that has formed on the surface of the jelly.
  7. Carefully ladle the hot jelly into the sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top of each jar.
  8. Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean, damp cloth to remove any spills or residue.
  9. Place the lids on the jars and screw on the bands until they are fingertip tight.
  10. Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes to ensure proper sealing.
  11. Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool at room temperature. As they cool, you should hear the lids pop, indicating that they have sealed properly.
  12. Once cooled, store the Mountain Dew jelly in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate after opening.

Enjoy your homemade Mountain Dew jelly on toast, biscuits, or even as a topping for ice cream!
