Jalapeno Cheddar Focaccia Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 jalapenos, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
  2. Once the yeast is activated, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the bowl along with the salt and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Use your hands to press and stretch the dough into a rectangle or oval shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
