Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
- ½ pound ground pork
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ⅔ cup panko breadcrumbs
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¾ cup marinara sauce, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, cooled vegetable mixture, panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan. Top with half of the marinara sauce.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the top. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy with your favorite sides!
