Ingredients:
Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture with sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually add flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 16×21-inch rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal slices.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each. Let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese glaze by beating together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over them. Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips and Quick Process:
- For a quicker rise, place the covered dough in a warm oven (turned off) with a bowl of hot water.
- Use dental floss to easily and cleanly cut the dough into slices.
- Add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
- Leftover rolls can be reheated in the microwave for a quick treat.
