French Fries RECIPE

Golden and crispy French fries, perfect as a snack or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2-3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Optional seasonings: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
  • Peel the potatoes if desired.
  • Cut the potatoes into uniform strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  1. Preheat the Oil:
  • In a large, deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 325°F (165°C).
  1. First Fry:
  • Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Working in batches, fry the potatoes in the hot oil for about 5-6 minutes, until they are soft but not browned.
  • Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain.
  1. Increase Oil Temperature:
  • Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  1. Second Fry:
  • Again, working in batches, fry the partially cooked potatoes for 2-3 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on fresh paper towels to drain excess oil.
  1. Season and Serve:
  • Immediately season the hot fries with salt and any additional seasonings you prefer.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
