Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup (120ml) warm water
- 1/2 cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup (60g) sugar
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and 1 teaspoon of sugar.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add the eggs, condensed milk, softened butter, and the yeast mixture.
- Begin to mix the ingredients, gradually adding the whole milk.
- Knead the dough by hand or with a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, until the dough is smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a mixer).
- First Rise:
- Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough:
- Punch down the risen dough to release any air bubbles.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and divide it into equal portions (depending on your desired bread size).
- Shape each portion into a ball or desired shape and place them into a greased bread pan or baking dish.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the shaped dough with a damp cloth and let it rise again in a warm place for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Bake the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once the dough has risen, brush the top with a little bit of milk or egg wash for a glossy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy your fluffy condensed milk bread!
