Ingredients

For the Dry Rub:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

For the Ribs:

  • 2 racks of pork baby back ribs
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water

For the BBQ Sauce:

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs become more tender.
  • In a small bowl, combine all the dry rub ingredients. Mix well.
  • Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  1. Cook the Ribs:
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Place the ribs on a large piece of aluminum foil. Mix the apple cider vinegar and water together and pour around the ribs (not on top of the ribs).
  • Wrap the ribs tightly in the foil and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is pulling away from the bone.
  1. Prepare the BBQ Sauce:
  • While the ribs are baking, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until thickened to your liking. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  1. Finish the Ribs:
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them. They will be very hot and tender.
  • Brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce on both sides of the ribs.
  • Place the ribs on the grill and cook for 5-10 minutes on each side, basting with more BBQ sauce and turning occasionally, until the sauce is caramelized and sticky.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  • Cut the ribs between the bones to serve.
  • Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.

Enjoy your delicious, tender Classic BBQ Ribs!
