Beef and Onion Stir Fry Recipe


This beef and onion stir fry recipe is a quick and flavorful dish perfect for busy weeknights. Tender strips of beef are stir-fried with onions and a savory sauce, creating a delicious meal that pairs well with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions and minced garlic, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the onions are softened and lightly caramelized.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the sauce over the beef and onions. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and evenly coats the beef and onions.
  6. Remove from heat and transfer the beef and onion stir fry to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
