Acastella Soft Bread is a delightfully fluffy and slightly sweet bread, perfect for breakfast or as a snack. Its soft, pillow-like texture makes it a favorite for all ages.
Ingredients
- 2 cups bread flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, warm the milk and water to about 110°F (43°C). Add the yeast to the warm liquid and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Transfer it to a floured surface and knead it briefly.
- Shape the dough into a loaf or divide it into smaller portions to make individual rolls. Place the shaped dough in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the shaped dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size again.
- Bake the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool and Serve:
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
- Slice and enjoy your Acastella Soft Bread!
